Hazard of Downpour dev Hopoo Games on the break as fellow benefactors join Valve
US-based independent studio and Chance of Downpour engineer Hopoo Games has all the earmarks of being having some time off as different individuals from the group, including its two prime supporters, take on jobs at Valve.
The engineer reported the move in a progression of posts on X, expressing that prime supporters Duncan Drummond and Paul Morse — “close by numerous other gifted individuals at Hopoo Games” — will be dealing with game improvement for the Half-Life and Counter-Strike studio.
It’s indistinct whether Drummond and Morse’s new jobs are extremely durable or transitory agreements. GamesIndustry.biz has reached Hopoo Games and Valve for more data.
Nonetheless, the studio’s explanation suggests that there might be a future for Hopoo sometime later
“We love making games – and will keep on doing as such, long into the future. We’re eager to be working one next to the other with the gifted individuals at Valve. However, for the present – rest tight, Hopoo Games.”
Hopoo Games offered the Gamble of Downpour IP to Gearbox for an undisclosed aggregate back in 2022. Notwithstanding player reaction against the most recent DLC for Hazard of Downpour 2, Rock Paper Shotgun revealed yesterday that Drummond accepts that Gearbox is “going in the correct course” with the game.
